Research Fellows

Each year, GSLIS faculty appoint research fellows for two-year terms. Fellows are chosen because their work is relevant to the interests of GSLIS faculty and students, and each will give at least one lecture during their appointment. Current fellows (and their areas of research interest) are:

August 2009–August 2011

• Carl Lagoze, Senior Research Associate in Computing and Information Science, Cornell University (architecture and protocols for distributed information environments, automatic organization of web information, and new environments for scholarly communication)


• Christopher Lueg, Professor of Computing, School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Tasmania, Australia (information interaction in online communities, equity/censorship issues in web/email filtering, interaction with mobile and ubiquitous computing environments, and the role of embodiment in information behavior)


• Robert Sanderson, Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool, UK (grid computing, data mining and information retrieval, digital libraries, and digital humanities)

August 2008–August 2010

• Allison Druin, Associate Professor in CLIS, University of Maryland, College-Park (children's information access and use, digital libraries for children, user interface design, children's storytelling processes and tools)


• Bertram Ludäscher, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and the Genome Center at the University of California, Davis (scientific data management, foundations of databases)


• Anna Maria Tammaro, Department of Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts at the University of Parma, Italy (internationalisation and quality assurance of higher education, digital libraries, electronic publishing, learning and libraries)
